The frost is gone, ice melted and snow thawed… which means one thing, garden time! I’m very keen to get my hands dirty and start ticking off all those jobs to make sure the garden is ready for the year ahead. Now that it’s a little warmer it’s going to be all hands on deck, just incase we get hit with another cold snap.
Whilst I’ve been waiting for the frost to disappear I kept busy inside by the fire with this years plans laid out on the table. So once they are all finalised I will be sure to share them with you all on here… and I’m even tempted to get the Youtube channel back up and running with more videos!

I did spend a good hour harvesting a few crops for our Sunday roast at the weekend and I was so pleased to see that even the heavy frosts couldn’t ruin these hardy veg. The sprouts are still going strong, if not a little nibbled on the outer leaves. At first glance the red cabbages look like they’ve called it a day, but after peeling away a few of the outer leaves this little gem was safe inside. The parsnips appear to be getting a tad wet at ground level but the bottom parts are still delicious and untouched (although I did spear one with the fork…)
However, the frosts did completely ruin the last of the leeks and the free ranging chickens have helped themselves to the rest of the swiss chard. Yet again we’ve been hit hard by carrot fly, despite building a mesh fence around the 3 rows… so I’m going to call in drastic measures for this year!
